A new way to experience Italian coffee.

At Barcino, we work closely with independent Italian roasters, chosen for their history and their craft. Artisans who share our same standards, from selecting the bean to the final espresso.

And because great coffee doesn't end with the roast, we've developed a precise recipe for each of our whole bean coffees, so you can bring out the very best of every espresso, right at home.

Manifest

Outside Italy, we struggled to find places that could really tell coffee's story: where it comes from, who roasts it, and how to prepare it well. Coffee is part of our everyday lives, but that shouldn't make it an ordinary product. Like anything crafted with care, it deserves a preparation that honors its origin, its flavor, and everything that makes it unique.

This conviction guides everything we select. We choose our coffees with rigor, working with independent Italian roasters who share our respect for the craft and the product.

Barcino was born in Marseille, a city of blending and sharing, facing the Mediterranean and open to Italy. A natural choice to stay close to the roasters we work with, and to introduce, here, a different way to experience Italian coffee.

Our mission

1. Get your espresso right from the first try
For each of our blends, we provide a precise recipe to find the right balance — not too bitter, not too acidic, just a well-extracted espresso. And to go further, our blog helps you refine your technique over time.

2. Know the story behind your coffee
Behind every coffee, there's an origin, a way of roasting it, and artisans with their own know-how. We want to show you what's behind each coffee, so you can better understand what you're drinking, where it comes from, and what makes it unique.

3. Bring the Italian coffee ritual to life
Italian coffee holds moments we carry with us: an espresso at the counter, a break on a terrace, a different rhythm. Memories that can leave you a little nostalgic once you're back home. Barcino wants to help you reclaim these small moments in everyday life, even when things move a little too fast.

That's our mission.

Industrial coffee

  • Philosophy

Mass-produced in a standardized way, at the expense of character

  • Pace

Very fast, superficial roasting, 100% automated

  • Freshness

Roasting followed by storage, with a delay before consumption

  • Taste

A standardized profile, designed to be uniform and reproducible, with few aromatic nuances and often pronounced bitterness

Artisanal coffee

  • Philosophy

Produced in small batches, with care, to reveal the unique character of each coffee

  • Pace

Slow roasting, mastered by the roast master (± 20 minutes)

  • Freshness

Roasted to order, to preserve the coffee's freshness

  • Taste

A profile tailored to each coffee, where the roaster adjusts the roast to bring out its aromas and find the right balance between acidity and bitterness

From bean to cup, without any compromises

It all starts with the bean. Our roasters select their coffees based on origin, quality, and aromatic profile. They know the producers they work with, follow the harvests, and choose the lots that match their way of roasting.

To choose our coffees, we go and meet the roasters ourselves. We take the time to discover their work, to understand how they source their beans, how they roast them, and what guides their choices. Our knowledge of coffee then allows us to select the roasters and coffees that meet our standards.

No selection based on name or origin alone. Every coffee is tasted, compared, and chosen for what it brings to the cup — its balance, its aromas, its character.

Our quality engagement

We only work with roasters who share the same commitment to quality — in the beans they choose and in how they roast them. They guarantee us full transparency on origins, varieties used, and roasting methods, for every blend.

Artisanal roasting is a philosophy — it's not measured in volume, but in rigor. Our partners' certifications and awards are proof of that: they validate strict international standards and guarantee a cup that's precise, consistent, and exceptional.

Why does this matter? These labels and awards guarantee traceability, rigor, respect for producers, and mastery of the product.
